TRENTHAM TRACK NOTES

THIS MORNING'S WORK Proceedings at Treniliam this morning I would not have suggested that an important meeting was only four clays away. Few visitors have arrived, arid what work was ! done was of little consequence. The centre of the trial grass was usod for fast work, and horses covered actually a little more than the distance slated. The track was in good order, for the raiu at the week-end had made it easier. Chelone was sent to do pace work on the plough. He was very anxious to go faster, and is in rare buckle. Possibly he will be better though for some racing. Commendation, after striding over a round, ran six furlongs under a good pull in linin 19%scc. He ran the last half-mile in 53sec, and the last three furlongs In 3Ssec, finishing very well. Panther was not hurried to vim half a mile in 52sec. He looks in good order. Bourse and Battle Torque separately sprinted down the straight. The racing on Saturday did them no harm. Royal Duke, who is a much-improved horse in appearance, ran half a mile in 02sec. He has won £495 in stake money, and it does not look as if he will be eligible for hack events much longer. Oratrix and Concentrate, after trotting about the middle, cantered a round on the plough. Oratrix is picking up well, but I Concentrate does not please so much. Crash (Kilbroney—Anthem) linished in front of Roman Lake at the end of three furlongs in 37sec, but Roman Lake received all the worst of the sturt. Crash is a

splendid mover, but if present intentions are adhered to he will'not be raced a great deal as a two-year-old. Rabbi and Rory Mor galloped six furlongs in lmin 18sec, the last half-mile in 52Mssec. ' Cimabue went with-all his usual freedom over five furlongs under a good pull. Parl strode over five furlongs in lmin 6 2-ssec. , Freeze Out drew away from First Ruler at the end of a six furlong gallop, which Freeze Out completed in lmin 18 2-ssec. Imarosebud and Otanru Lnss sprinted three furlongs in 37% see. . • Courtlike cantered to the half-mile post and then ran home in 51sec, a decent effort. Shot Silk, who has obviously done well since his operation for wind troubles, sprinted half a mile in 51sec, and did it well. ■ • ' The Hawk was going nicely all tho way over sis furlongs, hard held, in lmin 26 4-ssec. He looks in first-class order. Goshawk was not asked to go fast, but strode over a round, registering 15scc to the furlong. Ripdale gave a first-class display for a novice jumper over four flights oE hurdles. He may have a run on Monday at Trentham. Black Mint, as'usual, was a. trifle cramped when he came out to work, but he improved as he went on and strode out 'better down the straight. The big fellow is quite a possibility on Saturday, and his chances will be enhanced if rain falls. After breakfast conditions were perfect, but there was little more galloping. Shining Armour, none the worse for his MasJerton race, was given a round at a solid three-quarter pace. Gold Cure is not to be brought to Trentham. First Money was sent an easy five furlongs. Gold Tinge-• had Reveal (Leighton— Glimpse) as a mate over half a mile in 50sec. ■ White Fang showed plenty of dash over half a mile in 49% sec. It is understood that R. M'Tavish was engaged for him, but now advice has been received that he will be riding at the Waikato Meeting. . Decoy Bird covered the last five of six furlongs in lmin 4Mi sec. Rapier, Battle Colours, Radiate, and Pink Note were due at Trentham this morning from the South. Silver Paper and Rotor are not to be raced at the Wellington Meeting. Kilmezzo and Lord Quex have been scratched for all engagements at Trentham, and Celerity 11. for the Harcourt Cup.
