PETONE RUGBY FOOTBALL CLUB

' The Petoue Rugby ■ Football Club held its annual reunion in the form of a smoke concert at Petonc-on Saturday night. The opportunity was taken to extend a welcome to the club's.All Black, Mark Nicliolls. There was an attendance of approximately 250. Among the guests were Mr. i. M. Wilford M.P. (who acted as chairman), Messrs. S. S. Dean, W. F. Hornig, H. Leith, T. A. Fletcher, all of the New Zealand Rugby Union, Messrs. J. Prendeville, H. Morgan, and Major King, of the Wellington . Rugby Union, and Mr. D. M'Kenzie (New Zealand Referees' Association). There were also present the Mayor of Petone (Mr. D. M'Kenzie) and several of the leading citizens, as well as representatives from all the senior football clubs in Wellington and kindred sports bodies. In proposing the toast of the Petone Rugby Football Club, Mr. T. A. Fletcher referred to the club's record of the past season. Although the senior and junior teams had not reached the top of the ladder, the intermediate, third, and fourth grade teams had won the championships in theii1 divisions, while the fifths, sixths, and sevenths had been ruuners-up in their grades, each being only one point behind the winners. The Petone Club had also won the club championship Cup. The remarkable success in the lower grades, said Mi-. Fletcher, augured well for the future of the club. Tropheis "presented by .friends of the club for individual performances were presented to the winners by Mr. Wilford, who also handed the championship Cups to the coaches of the winning teams.
