The Department of Agriculture has received1 thefollowing cablegram, dated 13th October, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London:— Tallow. —Spot market continued firm. Fair business doing for shipment. Present quotations for spot are: Mutton—Pine, 45s 6d to 46s per cwt; fair to good, 43s to 44s 6d; dark to dull, 41s to 41s 6d. Beet —-Sweet and/or mixed, 44s 6d to 47s 6d; .fair to good, 42s 6d to 44s 6d; dark to dull, 39s 6d to 41s. Mixed—Fair to good, 42s to 43s 6d; vdark to dull, 39s 6d to 40s 6d. Gut, etc.—3Bs to 41s 3d. Hemp.—Manila more active and prices have'advanced. "J" grade now quoted October-December shipments, £34 2s buy ers;. - Output Ist January to 30th September 1,035,000 bales against 074,400 bales same period last year. Stocks'in Manila on 30th September 160,000 against 158,000; ,in Great Britain 14,000 against 4,814 Sisal market steady with moderate demand. Business has been done in No. 1 at £35 5s to £35 10s for September-November shipments. Nominal value No. 2, £34. New Zealand: Small demand for spot and close-at-hand shipments, but otherwise very little business has been done. Sales reported; Highpoints, £31 10s. Nominal closing values unchanged. , Eggs.—Prices higher again, but trade slow. Present quotations are: —English. ]9s to 23s per long 100 (120 eggs); Dutch, 17s Gd to 21s; French, Danish, 16s to 20s; Australian, 18s to 18s 6d; South African, 17s to 18s; Argentine, 15s to 15s 6d; Polish, Russian, 11s to 13s, Apples.—Market quiet. Canadian Cox's Orange, 14s to 17s per case; M'lntosh Red, 11s to 12s; Californian Newton, 9s to 10s; Jonathan, 9s to 13s; Nova Scotian Ribs ton Pippin, 22s to 24s per barrel; Gravenstein, 21s to 22s per barrel; Cox's Orange. 24s to 30s per half-barrel. Wool.—Bradford Top-makers reducing prices and better tone apparent in merino and low crossbred. Medium and coarse crossbred still- neglected. • Users adopting waiting policy. Present quotations for tops are: —64's (merino) warp, 3s lid per lb; average, 3s lOd; 56's (super halfbred), 2s lid; 50's, prepared, 2s 4d; 40's, prepared, Is lO'^d.
