TEACHERS' RIGHT OF APPEAL.
• The question of giving teachers the right to appeal against non-appoint-ment was briefly referred to in the House of Representatives last night, and Mr. P. Fraser 1 (Wellington Central) moved to reduce the vote for the Education Department by £5 as an indication that the right should be granted. On a division the amendment was defeated by 129 votes to 12. Those who voted with the Labour Party were Sir John Luke (Wellington North), Messrs. H. G. Dickie (Patea), J. G. Eliott (Oroua), T. K. Sidey (Diineditt South), and T. M. Wilford (Hutt).
