PUBLIC NOTICES. UPPER HUTT BOROUGH COUNCIL. NOTICE OF SPECIAL ORDER. NOTICE IS HEREBY'GIVEN that, at a Special Meeting of the Upper Hutt Borough Council held on Monday, the 3rd day of September, .1023, the following Resolution was passed: — "Tho Upper Hutt Borough Council in exercise of the powers vested in it by '"The Municipal Corporations Act, 1920," and its Amendments; "The Public Reserves and Domains Act, 1908," and its Amendments;. ''The Explosives and Dangerous Goods Act, 1905," and its Amendments; "The Public Works Act, 1008," und its Amendments; "The Health Act, 1U20"; "The Motor Vehicles Act, 1924," and its Amendment, and any Regulations made or to be made thereunder; "The Cemeteries Act, .1908," and "The Wellington City and Suburban Highways Construction and Hutt Road Amendment Act, 1924," und in pursuance and exercise of every other authority or power enabling it in that behalf." (1) The Short Title of this Bylaw is the "Upper Hutt Borough Council Bylaw, No. 1." _ • The object and purport of tho Bylaw is: (a) The good rule and government of the Borough. (b) The keeping of poultry and swine, (a) The destruction of vermin. (d) The registration of Hairdressers' Shops and the. provision of proper hygiene therein. (c) The conduct and the licensing of Billiard rooms. (f) Fire prevention within the Borough, and Fire Brigade control. (g) Control of, and the licensing of hawkers, pedlars, and dealers. (h) The licensing of Bakehouses and Shops from which bread is sold, licensing milk and cream vendors, ice and icecream vendors, cordial manufacturers, and meat, fish, poultry, fruit and vegetable vendors. (i) The conduct of eating-houses and lodg-ing-houses. (j) Providing for Public Health generally. (k) Tenement houses. (1) Control and licensing of Advertising Hoardings and providing for Street sea Holding. (m) Use of Street, Street Stalls, Street and Verandah Signs, and the licensing or permitting of same, Street Naming, etc. (n) Parks, Reserves, ancj Public .Playing Grounds control. (o) Buildings (including Public Theatres, Halls, Warehouses, Shops, and all other Business Premises), Dwellings, Outhouses, Garages, etc., etc. (p) Waterworks, and the supply of water within, or without the Borough for domestic or trade, or other business purposes. (ci) Drainage and Plumbing, bewerage, and Sewerage Tanks, Night Soil removal, and disposal and the licensing of plumbers and drainlayers. (r) The control of traffic, licensing of public passenger vehicles, the licensing of conductors and drivers, lights on vehicles, brakes, and general equipment of vehicles, control of pedestrian and vehicular street traffic, government of footpaths, speeds generally, and speeds on certain streets, the driv-, ing of stock on streets, the appointment of stands for public vehicles,, und the power to make regulations generally as to traffic. (s) The storage and control of explosives and dangerous goods, and tho licensing of storage depots. _ (ti Providing for the licensing and control of offensive trade businesses. (n) Makin" provision for the appointment of the necessary Inspectors or other Officers to carry out the provisions of this Bay law. AND NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Bylaw will be open for inspection during office hours at the Offices of the Borough Council, Main road, Upper Hutt, from Wednesday, 3rd October, 1928, until Friday, 12th October, 1928 (both days inclusive), and that a Special Meeting of the Borough Council will be held on FRIDAY, 12th DAY of OCTOBER, JO'S to confirm or amend the said Bylaw and to fix a dale when it shall come into operation.
