The Minister of Labour, Hon. J. G, Anderson, according to a Press Aesociation cable message, is returning to Now Zealand by the Themistoeles, much improved iv health. Mr. H. E. Mackenzie, chairman of the Auckland Harbour Board, who is visiting England, expects tn connect with the Niagara at Vancouver in November. His return has been slightly delayed owing to the necessity for undergoing a second nasal operation in London. Dr. Brenuan has now officially notified the Otago University Council of his resignation as Professor of Pathology as the outcome of a communication by cable following an offer of appointment by the Belfast University, telegraphs "The Post's" Dnnedin correspondent. He will leave about the end of the year. The funeral of the late Mr. Alexander Thomas Brown, who, with his brother Henry, was drowned at Porirua on 23rd August, took place on Wednesday. The cortege which left Jus late residence at Golden Gate, for the Pahautanui Cemetery, was the largest ever seen in the district. The lato Mr. Brown, who was highly respected by the residents in and around the district, was a vice-president of the Paremata Boating Club, and took a keen inI terest in the development of this popular seaside resort. Eepresentatives of the local bodies and clubs were present with a large circle of friends and relatives from various parts of the Domin* ion. The pall-bearers were Messrs. J. M'Pherson, A. Trevor, and W. and E. Brady. The service at the graveside was conducted by Pastor E. S. Batz, of Wellington, assisted by Pastors It, R. Harvey and M. B. Smith.
