KARORI AFFAIRS

A meeting o£ the executive of the Karori Progressive Association was held in the old Council. Chambers on Thursday evening, the president, Mr. W. Simm, being in the chair. The association was thoroughly in accord with the Ngaio Progressive Associa-' tion that the suburban areas are at a disadvantage compared to the city areas if their residents are asked to subscribe funds for the erection of swimming baths, which in the general interest of citizens the City Council should provide. A recommendation is to be forwarded to the council that the two corners of Donald street, which street is at present beinir widened, should be splayed buck at the junction with Main K.irori road. Petitions from residents of Campbell street, Mcssines road, Duthie street, and Beauchamp street for urgent attention were sent on to the council with a recommendation for favourable consideration. Other streets brought before the council from time to time by the association were alao included in the recommendation. A motion that the City Council be requested to place before the association for consideration any future alterations to the tram stops in the district was carried. It was decided to recommend to the Kelburn and Karori Motor-bus Company that when the extension of service to the Council Chambers is made during Die next few days the inward bus should stop at Raine street and Newcombe avenue, and the outward bus at Donald street and Campbell street.
