There is much amusing speculation as to what would happen if a millionaire sportsman were found to provide a magic carpet for the "unlucky seventeen great cricketers who will be left behind when the English Test cricket team sails at the week-end. It is acknowledged that the choice of the "lucky seventeen" has been thoughtful and eminently fair, but it is equally true that no contest in Empire history would excite greater interest than ..he impossible occurrence of two rival teams battling through the same fixture card in Australia. The "uuluel&y seventeen," according to unofficial selectors, are Sandham, Holmes, Woolley, S. T. S. Stevens, .Rhodes, Hearne, Duleepsinhji, Bowley, O'Connor, Smith, Wyatt, I'ranklyn, C. Parker, Mercer, Fender, \V. B, Jupp, and Sidney Barnes.
