In the House of Representatives on Tuesday, Mr. W. H. Field. (Otaki) gave notice to ask the Government to take steps to save from further destruction, and. preservo for posterity the remainder of the old. stockade at the mouth oi the Porirua Harbour, opposite Parenjata, built as headquarters for the Imperial soldiers in or about the year 1846, when severe fighting was in .progress between Natives and Europeans in the Pliinmcrton-Pahautanui district; and to make such arrangements.-with. the owners of the land whereon the ruin stands as will effect the above ol>« jeet.
