TEST PLAYERS

The fact that certain players were not available to play for New Zealand m all three Tests with New South Wales created a short discussion at last night s meeting of the New Zealand Rugby Unions Management Committee. A telegram was received from Mr. A. 0. Geddes, manager of the New Zealand team, stating that A. E. Cooke was returning home tins eVMrmBE M'Kenzie. in reply to a question," stated that the Now Zealand selectors had been informed that Cooke would be available for the first two lerts He (Mr M'Kenzie) understood that LooUe was going back to the Wairarapa for business reasons. The chairman also mentioned the case of the Auckland players who were available for the first Test only. Another Aucklander, Minns, had come flown when he should never have been allowed to leave Auckland. This was unfortunate for the player as well as for the selectors. Minns returned to Auckland after the first Test, as did Butler and Batty. It was decided to ask the Auckland Union for an explanation regarding the sending of Minns to Wellington when the player was obviously unfit for play.
