HOSPITAL ENGINEER

(By Telegraph.) (Special to "The Evening Post.") AUCKLAND, This Day. The Auckland Hospital Board met yesterday to reconsider the appointment of a resident engineer, and by unanimous vote, Mr. F. C. Jacobs was chosen, subject to the approval of the Minister of Health. At a special meeting on 3rd July, Mr. A. E. Rhodes, of Auckland, was chosen. The secretary yesterday'read a letter from Mr. Rhodes stating he desired to withdraw from the appointment. He added that lie was to have been admitted to the Society of Civil Engineres, but had since learned that he. was unsuccessful. Mr. Jacobs's application stated that ho held a chief engineer's certificate from the Board of Trade. He was also an inspector of machinery, and had had considerable electrical experience., He had nine years' experience at sea, and for eight years was second engineer at the Porirua Mental Hospital. He was recently in charge of the installation of the submarine engines at Penrose for the Public Works Department.
