The King has boen pleased to ap« prove the appointment of Sir John Chancellor to be High Commissioner and! Coinm'ander-in-Chief for Palestine and1 High Commissioner for Transjordania in place f o Field-Marshal Lord Plumer,whose tenure of these offices will shortly end. Sir John Chancellor, who is 58 years old, has had a distinguished career as soldier and colonial administrator. He has been Governor and; Commander-in-Chief of Southern; Rhodesia since 1923. '
