SALE OF CARGO SHIPS
KOROMIKO INCLUDED It is understood that the Koromikrj, a' turret steamer of 2479 tons, built in 1907 by Messrs. W. Doxford and Sons, Sunderland, and owned by the Union Company, is to be sold to Eastern buyers. The vessel attracted a great deal of interest when she first arrived at Wellington on account of her unusual build. Her peculiar sides made it possible to carry big shipments of timber lashed to the hull. A shipment" of jarrah was brought from Australia in this fashion on her maiden voyage from England. She is built of steel and has a double cellular bottom. Her two masts are each fitted with eight derricks in order to expedite the handling of cargo. The steamer Suva, which is being replaced by the Moeraki in the Sydney-Suva-service, will probably be sold for trading in the East.
