At a meeting of the Chamber of Commerce and other local bodies last night strong protests were voiced at tho tone of articles in tho Auckland ."Star" and i"Sun" in respect to tho EotoruaTaupo railway, and especially with regard ioa messago from tho Bay of Plenty Development League opposing tho construction of tho lino, in view of tho fact that the league at tho annual conferenco unanimously supported the project. Tho meeting decided to writo to tho Primo Ministor expressing appreciation and congratulating him on fulfilling his promise after two Royal Commissions had reported favourably, also that copies of the letter be sen'i to the Minister of Public Works, Mr. F. P. Hockly, M.P., the Now Zealand.- Settlement and Development League, tho "Star," "Sun," "Evening Post," tho "Dominion," and tho Auckland Chambor of Commerce.
