SOCCER REFEREES
♦ ■ The necessity for adequate protection, was stressed at a meeting of Soccer referees held'this week. . The opinion was expressed that tho Wellington Football Association should sec that, referees were protected. It was stated that tho majority of the referees who had sat for tho theory portion of their examination, had been recommended for a New Zealand badge. A special meeting is to bo hold on 17th July, when a new honorary secretary and committee will bo appointed. Eegret was expressed that Mr. Groig, tho present secretary, was unable to continue in office. On the motion of the chairman (Mr. C. Ward) the meeting recorded its appreciation of Mr. Grcig's services. The Postal authorities have received cable advice that mails which left Auckland on sth June per _ E.M.S. Aorangi, via Vancouver, arrived in London oil sth, July.. . ' '
