There are so many- contributory circumstances,, sonio impersonal, some personal. Among the impersonal circumstances aro those affecting usual employment—docs the unemployed man gravitate from a seasonal occupation that is. slack in winter, or is ho a tradesman ,in a trade- temporarily depressed? Reliable statistical information concerning tho proportion of unemployed "who owe their unemployment to seasonal influences on -• certain -callings would bo materi: ' to the collection of data on whiet' to base remedial ecoriomic proposals; and such statistical .information seems to be at present hard to get. This 'point has not been overlooked in a new unemployment registration form that has been drawn up for tho Lower Hutt Borough. The form includes a series of questions, grouped under ten heJads, and tho Unemployment Committee hopes that answers to such questions will guide it in tho performance of its duties. The questions are as follow:— 1. Kesidence. —-How long have you resided in your present .locality? If you are hot a resident of tho Hutt Borough why are you applying to this bor-~ ..ough for work? 2. Training.—Are you a skiUed workman? If so, what is your trade? If. not a tradesman, are you entirely unskilled? . ' i ■ ' . 3. Employment.—Where were; you last employed? Who was your last employer? Why did you leave? How long were you in your last job? How'many jobs have' you had during tho last two' years?:. Who were your employers? Are> you in good health ? Can you undertake heavy work? •. ■ .. :: 4. Income.—What were your earnings during the last twelve months? Ar» you receiving any pension or superannuation? If so, from what source? 5. Family (not applicable to" single men). —H0.7 many in family have you? What are their ages? Aro any earning money? If so, how many, and what amount. Do they .contribute anything to support of, home? If so, what is amount of contribution? Do; they contibuto regularly? Have you any other dependents? If so,: what do you contribute to their support. . ' . - 6. Housing.—Do you own your own, home? If so, is there a mortgage on it? What annual payments aro you making? Do you let rooms? If so, how many and what, is rental? If so, how long have they been let during last twelve months? 7. Rented Homes.—What rent do you pay for your house? Do yon let rooms? If so, what weekly rent do you, draw from them? If so, for how long let during last tveve months? 8. Luxuries. —Do you own a motorcar or motor-cycle? If so, do you owe anything on it? Are you purchasing anything on time payment? If so, what? If so, what instalment are you paying? Aro you spending money on (a) drink, (b) race meetings, (c) cigarettes, (d) pictures? i). Contracts, etc.—ls your life insured? What is yearly premium?, Do you contribute to N.P.F.T Are you. a member of a friendly so«iety? , 10. Questions for Single Men.—Have you aiiy dependents? If'so, how many? Do you contribute to their support. If so, how much a week do you contribute? If so, how long have you beea contributing?
