APPEAL BOARD ELECTION In accordance with the regulations under the Post and Telegraph Department Act, 1918, a postal ballot was held on the 27th instant for tne purpose of electing to the Post and Telegraph Board of Appeal a representative"' of tho'officers in the Telegraph branch of the Department. The candidates for election were Mr. Wilfred Henry Gladstone Brown, supervisor, Telegraph Office, Wellington (sitting member), and Mr. Joseph Downs Burns, supervisor, Hokitika. The result of the election was as under:— ' . ' Brown, W. H. G. ..;... 1294 Burns, J; D. 1814 Informal 12 Majority for Mr. Burns 520 . for the election of a representative of. the officers in the Postal Branch of the Service, only one candidate was nominated, namely, Mr. Ernest Eiehard Blewett, accountant, Nelson, who was accordingly declared elected. Mr. Blewett succeeds Mr. JR. B. Reynolds, of Wellington, who haa been the Service Postal representative on the board for approximately eight years. The Board of Appeal consists of Mr. E. C. Cutten, S.M., Auckland (chairman), Mr. 11. P. Donald, Chief Postmaster, Christchurch, both appointed by the Governor-General, and the two elective members. Tho two persons appointed by the Governor-General sit on the board in respect of all appeals, while the elective representatives sit only in respect of appeals by officers in tlieir respective branches.
