Temporarily abandoning his ■drinking, he persuades the eirl to marry him, but Ruffo returns and findsi Hilda, wedded to a drink-crazed man, who is obsessed with the Idea that all men arc in love with his wife. Ruffo manages to rescue Hilda when her irinlacal husband is about to mar her beauty by means of a red-hot iron, but later, as .the result of a fall, his life is at the mercy of the surgeon, In whose mind the forces of good and evil strive for mastery. The supports are excellent, while tho King's Select Orchestra provides charming and appropriate music.
