DOUBLE PAY.
Archibald could scarcely be called a brilliant boy, and try as he might he could not find himself a situation. After the iirst interview, prospective employers always turned him down. At last, however,- Archibald conceived an excellent plan. He offered his services free for a month. The offer was immediately accepted by a gentleman o£ Semitic upbringing. , 1 The month expired, and Archibald nervously asked for a "rise." "Veil, vat is your present pay?" asked his employer. "Nothing, sir," said Archibald. "Veil" —his employer contemplated him a moment —"your wages are doubled."
