THE TANKER YARRAVILLE.
The Vacuum Oil Company's new oil tanker Yarraville, which is due at Auckland oarly In August from San Francisco, is tho latest of tho company's four sister ships that have been specially built for the petrol trade between California, Australia, and New Zealand. Tho other three tankers, the Voco, Plume, and Pulpit Point, are well known on the New Zealaud coast. Built in Glasgow by Litligow's, Ltd., the four vessels are constructed on tho Ishcrwood system, and have nlno main cargo tanks, which are subdivided by a longitudinal bulkhead. The Yarravlllo's propelling machinery consists of a triple expansion steam engine. Her navigational instruments are very up-to-date, and include au "Iron Mike," gyro compass, course recorder, and wireless direction-finder.
