UNSTAMPED SCALES.
The use of unstamped scales was admitted by Wall. King in the Magistrate's Court to-day; before Mr., E. Page, • S.M. Mr. W. ,J. Mountjoy. of the Labour Department, said that the scales were examined by an Inspector, of Weights and Measures and found to bear a. rejection mark, which meant that the machine had been submitted for stamping and- rejected. In answer to a question by the Magistrate, Mr. Mountjoy said that the rejection mark prohibited the use of the scales until they were put in order. .'.lt appeared that the scales had been .purchased by the defendant in an auction mart and had been used by, him in his business. The indicator had Evidently been loose at one time, and had been made secure with a piece of paper. Two other scales which did not comply with the regulations were found in the back of the shop and seized, but no action wjvb being taken in connection with them. .'Defendant was fined 10s.
