The. Brooklyn Harrier Club held a five-mile handicap raco for. the Cooke Cup at Lyall Bay. A. fair field of runners faced' the starters, Mr. Penton and Mr. Poutawera. The scratch men, Pedersou and Bibhy, gavo away fimin 45scc to the limit man. The course was the same as for the Vosseler Shield race. For the first two miles and a half-the limit men, Flint and Willis, led the field. Tor the next two miles Davies and Sinclair took the lead. But coming Into the straight Roberts raced with Davles to win by a fifth of a second. Actual results:—lt. Koberts, handicap, two minutes, actual time, 32mln 10 2-ssec. 1; B. Daves (3mln)» 33mln 10 3-ssec, 2; R. Pederson (4min), 34min 32 4-sscc, 3. Fastest times were registered by B. Bibby, 31min; D. C. Pederson, 31min 6sec.
