DIAMOND WELL BEATEN. V.M.C.A. gave Diamond a thorough trouncing on No. 1 ground at the Basm Reserve on Saturday. The final score was 6 to 1, and it just about represented the run of the play. Up the other end again, M'Girr just stopped a dangerous movement by the Diamond for? wards. V.M.C.A. went.away again, and progress was made as a result of p.retty. combined work in the forward line. The Diamond forwards took charge for a while, but they found themselves nip against solid propositions in Trott and M'Girr. For the next ten minutes V.M.C.A. kept the Diamond backs, busy. Stacks shot, hard for goal, and as the ball rebounded from Waller's hands, Worth rani forward and drove it through. V.M.C.A. 2, Diamond 0. Diamond attacked from the kick-off, and from a fine centre by M'Leod Anton sent the ball into (he net. V.M.C.A. 2, Diamond 1. Dull exchanges followed the resumption of play, and the score was unaltered ;whenj half-time arrived. Diamond attacked early in the second spell, but M'Leod missed when presented with a good opportunity. The pressure was maintained for some time, and M'Girr and Trott were kept busy. Their methods proved effective, and the Diamond forwards were'"kept'at'bay. Y.'M.CA. eventually, got away, but Ogilvie was a weak link on the. right wing. Froni a corner tick, well': placed by Worth, Eigby headed into goal. ■ It. was a fine piece of work, and one of the bright spots in an uninteresting game. Y;M:C.A. 3, Diamond 1.
