There was a dramatic clipiax to a seriei' of spiritualistic seances at Nantes which are stated to have attracted attention ,as far as Australia, America, and Japan. A journalist, seizing the supposed spirit of a girl whom her mother was about to embrace, found it to bo: the substantial body of' the famous medium, Balise, who in the meantime was supposed to be in a cabinet in a trance.. Tho journalist declares that he saw Balise's braces underneath the transparent robe before flashing on an electric torch. : . y , ; , A scene followed, twenty persons "attacking the' journalist, whe ; escaped with bruises and torn clothes.
