( , The Inauguration of the President .of the' ■United States next year will be witnessed* by 100 Australian boys, who .will later be received by the President at White House. This will be incidental to a 'great tour, which has been planned'by the Young Australian League, a remarkable organisation, which is doing a wonderful work in the wuy of education by travel. Tours of Australia under the auspices of the league are frequent, and they are always well patronised.. The method of the league, which'was-founded in Western Australia, is to arrange a tour and then invite applications from the parents on behalf of their boy's. Each boy pays his own expenses— a lump sum worked out before the tour is commenced. Each tour is personally supervised -by officers of. the league, who insist on strict discipline, thus giving the tours a double value. The most ambitious tour yet organised by the league is that which included England and Europe, and it was following on the experience then gained that the American tour was decided upon. A representative of the league now in the United States has reported"that the idea is being taken lip with enthusiasm in. the cities so far visited by him. San Francisco and Los Angeles have entered into spirited friendly competition" to see w_ich can do most to make the stay most enjoyable. At San Francisco the Rotary Club has taken charge of the arrangements, and a wonderful week-is being planned. Hollywood, the dream city of« youth, will greet the boys with open arms, and such , iamous stars as Lon Chancy, Tom Mix, Jackie Coogan ; and' Hoot Gibson have expressed a desire to act as hosts. From California the party will move to Texas, the home of the cowboy, and from there will go to St. Louis and through the southern States, where negro life will be The date of the visit to Wash- ' ington coincides with the inauguration of the President. New York will be visited later, and the party will then go to Canada, Montreal, Ottawa, Quebec, and other, big cities being in the itinerary. Subsequently the boys ijrill return to the United , Statesto visit'the great industrial centres. The cost of the tour for each boy will . be „195 10s, and applications froiii those anxious to undertake the trip are now being' received. It is not anticipated that any difficulty will be experienced in'making up the total; quite tho reverse, in fact, for previous tours have been a great success. A contingent of 140 took part in the European tour, and all the boys were landed safely, home.
