pan, Australia, Dominion mills, and fellmongers, all of whom seemed eager to obtain wool at their - limits, and competed freely for their various requirements. Local scourers found it difficult to procure their usual winter requirements, owing to the strong all-round competition from overseas buyers. The total offerings was 3189 bales,, of which the firm's catalogue comprised 792 bales, and they quitted the whole of their offering, with the exception of a few odd lots. The bulk of the offering comprised crutchings, and there were several parcels of fleece wool, in addition to a small qxiantity of scouring wools. Merino and halfbred crutchings were in short supply—in fact, not sufficient to give reliable quotations. Superior lots of crossbred crutchings met with keen competition, mainly from Japanese buyers and the local mills, and these sold at \5 lM to 16% d; but the bulk of the offering, free from seed, sold at about 14d to laVsd, whilst slightly seedy and inferior sorts sold at lOd to 13d, and shabby and very seedy lots at 5d to 9%d, according to amount of seed showing.
