GOVERNMENT'S ACTION (By Telegraph.) (Special to "The Evening Post.") v ' TAURANGA, ,This Day. -At.a large and representative - meeting of discharged men from tjie Public Works Department satisfaction was expressed at the Prime Minister's reply to Mr. C. E. Macmillan, M.P. :£or Tauranga, that the Government -/was considering the opening 'up of new works, arid that in the meantime arrangements /were being made to allow the men to continue to occupy ; the hutments. On Mr. Maemillan's suggestion, the following • motion was passed: '.'That this meeting is of the opinion that the continuation of the line from Taneatua to Opotiki will give/the greatest measure of satisfaction and create the least domestic dislocation amongst' the employees under discharge; therefore the. Prime Minister is requested accordingly." A vote of thanks to Mr. Macmiilan for his.-efforts closed the meeting.
