FAREWELL TO FIJI
SUVA, Bth June. The Government yacht Pioneer reports that the Southern Cross took oft' from Naselai Sands without difficulty and with plenty of room to spare. The Yangona ceremony was performed by a large gathering of Fijians previous to tho departure. Captain Smith thanked tho natives. The crowd cheered. The Southern Cross's motors were warmed up, and for ten minutes the machine circled, and then disappeared in the direction ot! Suva. The ilyer's were cheered on entering the airplane. The Southern Cross wirelessed at 4.40 p.m.: "Governor of Suva. Please convoy to Mayor Marks and all residents our truly sincere and grateful appreciation of all that has been done for us. Long will we remember your wonderful hospitality. Everything has been done for us, and without Suva's wonderful co-operation our flight could not have been the success we feel sure it now will be. Please also personally thank the Fijians for their great help. —Kingsford Smith."
