_ .» It is quite easy to clean velvet with powdered magnesia. The magnesia should be rubbed gently into the pile with a soft cloth and left on all night. X The next morning it should bo brushed out. Care must be taken to apply the
brush with and not against the nap of the velvet. Bran, warmed in the oven, is also an effective cleanser when rubbed into velvet (states ail English writer). Turpentine will remove grease marks from velvet. Pour a little over tlio soiled part, and rub with clean rag till quite dry. .Rub the way of the pile, and do not stretch the fabric. Two applications, way bo needful if stain is very bad. j
