RAILWAY BUSES
MANAGER APPOINTED . The purchase by the Baihvay Department of competing road motortransport services . has added another important branch of business to the activities of tho Department. .- In view of this large expansion, it has been, decided to appoint a manager to take solo charge of the Department's bus services for the whole of the Do-_ minion. Tlie- Minister of Eaiiways (the Eight Hon. J. G. Coatcs) stated yesterday that this position was being filled by tho appointment of Mr. J. Carlicichan, of Palmerston North, an officer with long and varied experience.
