THE LATE SIR JOHN HOSKING

The high esteem in which the late Sir John Hosking was held was shown by the large and representative attendance at his funeral, which took place this morning. The first part of the burial service, which was held at St. Luke's Anglican Church, Wadestown, was conducted by the vicar, the Bey. J. E. Ashley-Jones. The chief mourners were: Lady Hosking (widow), Mrs. Dundas Allen, of Sydney (daughter), and Mr. Christopher Hosking (son); and amongst those present were the Hon. F. J. Eolleston (Minister of Justice), Sir Eobert Stout, Sir Frederick Chapman, Mr. Justice Smith, Sir Harold Beauchamp, Sir Francis Bell, M.L.C., Sir John Luke, M.P., Sir John Findlay, Messrs. G. A. Troup (Mayor), A. Gray, K.C., M. Myers, K.C., A. Fair, K.C., W. G. Riddel!, S.M., G. V. C. Campbell, C. H. Treadwell, W. Perry, T. C.' A. Hislop, H. E. Evans, the Hon. T. Shailer Woston, M.L.C., S. Harcourt,' K. H. Webb (representing the Otago Law Society), G. S. Nathan, H. M. Gore (secretary of the Society of Pine Arts), W. A. Hawkins (secretary of the Wellington Law Society), A. Duncan, H. Baillic, and 1\ J. Halse. Numerous wreaths were received from societies in Wellington and other parts of the Dominion with which Sir John Hosking had been connected, as well as from many private friends. Wreaths were received from Sir Charles Skcrretfc (Chief Justice),and Miss Skerrett, tho Wellington District Law Society, the Magistrates of Wellington, the Council and members of the New Zealand Lajv Society, Mr. Justice and Mrs. Smith,' Wellington branch of the'Plunkot Society, Sir Lindo and Lady Ferguson (Duncdin), and the, matron and sisters of the Karitane Hospital and Plunket nurses. The interment took place at the Karori cemetery, the Eev. J. E. Ashley-Jones officiating at the I graveside. As a mark of respect to the late Sir John Hosking, Mr. E.
