The -weather was glorious at Wingatui for training operations yesterday •morning, most of! the local horses engaged at the forthcoming meeting were out, and the work was interesting. The inside course was open. After the rain the track was soft, but fair going was provided. The first out were Quickform and Eyed Ova, who covered seven furlongs in lmin 42sec. The former was going nicely.. Narrative was cantered for several rounds. Corn Money and Carintliia hopped off at the five-furlong peg. They did the first furlong in 13sec, and the full distance in lmiu. S l-ssec, finishing on terms. • Antrim Boy and Lilt both went well in a dash over half a mile in 54 3-ssec. Starting from the seven-furlong mark, Wingatui had three lengths' advantage of Lucy Locket. Six furlongs was passed in lmin 22% see, and the last furlong ■in Msec. Wiugatui was just ahead at the finish. x Overdrawn was allotted strong striding work, going- twice round. Stringbow was cantered over two circuits, i .. ■ . He has had some schooling on his owner's property. . • Decision did steady work, while Traction and Real, Gold made two circuits at a fair pace. Apple.Dighton, looking well, was allotted useful training. , The hurdlers Coastguard and Armchair were sent over, a mile on the flat, doing the distance easily in Imin SCMisec. j Hard Prince was another who was kept to strong work, and Booster was also worked steadily. Hiss Winkie and Royal Saxon were _ together all the way in a five-furlong sprint, taking lmin 8 l-ssec. After jumping six flights of hurdles smartly, Scion continued for a round at a strong pace. The only training over fences was that by Dubious and Koremata. They started at the stand double. • Koremata jumped better' than Dubious over the fences- till the pace was increased along the back, where Dubious gave an improved exhibition. At the post ami rails Dubious went to the front, but Koremata was with Dubious when they completed the circuit by clearing the stand double again. A number of other horses, including Battlement, who is looking well after his spell, were given useful work. The Christchurch contingent is expected to arrive overnight, but the boutlilaiul horses engaged at the meeting will probably not arrive at Wingatiii till iriday.
