MAORI COMPETITION

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) GISBORNE, 29th May. A meeting of local members of the. Maori Advisory Board was held at Whaugaroa on Saturday evening to make arrangements for the Prince of Wales Cup for Maori players.* Present were Sir A. V. Ngata (in the chair), the Key. Tamaliorc, Messrs. T. Carroll (Wniroa), W. T. Pitt, G. I!': Dansey. It wa's announced that the Dominion had been divided into four districts:— Tairawliiti (from Cape Runaway to Dannevh'ke), Taihawmuiruru (from Dannevirke to Wellington, New Plymouth, . and YViuigiumi), Wivipomiiiinu (South Island). Teheran (North . Auckland and Bay of Plenty). It was decided that Tairawhiti should be the first holders, and it was resolved to hold the first trial match between teams representing J.he northern part of the T.airiiwliili district at Kuatoria. on 23rd, .Tune, a subsequent match' for the selection of the Tairawhili team to be played at Gisborne, also the first'challeiißO match for the trophy to be played at Gisborne.
