REPRESENTATIVE MATCHES The Wellington Rugby Union's Management Committee met last evening, Ml-.' J. Prcniloville presiding. Advice was received from the Wairarnpa Rugby Union that it agreed to playing tho Wairaiapa-Welliugton match on the 22ml August, the Wnirarapii town in which tho game will take place to be notified later. Tho Auckland Rugby Union asked that its representative match with Wellington, to be played at Wellington on the ISth August, be for the Ranfurly Shield in the event of Wellington holding the trophy on that date. As Wellington, however, would not be playing any., shield-holders before that date, no action was taken. The failure to reach an agreement regarding uniform charges at I'etone, which were (id for Soccer and Is for Kugby last Saturday, was reported on by tho chairman. On not moro than tlireo occasions during the season the Rugby Union is given the right to make a shilling charge, and it was exercised last Saturday for the first time this season. The support of the Rugby public in Petone was indicated in the fact that over 2000 people had entered by the Rugby gate and only about CO or 70 by the gate at which the charge was Od. ' . The following clubs were granted permission to send teams to the seven-a-side tournament at Palmerston North on Mon- | day:—University (one), Upper Hntt (two), Oriental, (five), and Hutt (four).
