FUNDS OF A STATE A WOMAN CONVICTED Australian Press Association. NEW YCIKK, 27th May. A message from Albany states that Mrs. Knapp has been convicted in the first degree of grand larceny of State census funds. The maximum penalty is ten years' imprisonment. The Commissioner investigating the charges recommends a criminal prosecution, alleging the illegal disbursement of 118,000 dollars, and the waste of nearly 80,000 dollars in her administration of census funds. The charges include nepotism and the giving away of State funds, which ultimately were traced back as in her possession.
