In the first round of the women's singles, Madame Peyre (France) had a walk-over from Madame Golding (France), scratched; Mademoiselle Charnolet had a walk-over from Madame Wyns (Spain), scratched. In the. second round, Fraulein Aussem '(Germany) beat Mrs. Watson (Bri- , tain), 2-6, 7-6, 6-0.
