SYNOPSIS OF LAST 24 HOURS.

The cyclone is now covering the New Zealand area, but it is of a more shallow type than it was while centred in tlic Northern Tasman Sea. Unsettled, cloudy, and misty weather lias been experienced with rain in most parts of the Dominion, and some further heavy falls have occurred at places iv the northern portion of the North Island. Moderate to strong northerly winds prevailed during last night, but at 8 a.m. to-day directions were more variable, with westerlies ruling.
