• ' COEN'S PINE PLAY NEW YORK, 26th May. W. T. Tilden and W. 11.I1. Coen defeated Lum and Kong in the doubles, 6-2, 6-1, 6-3, and eliminated China in the Davis Cup round. (Eeceived 28th May, 10 a.m.) KANSAS CITY, 27th May. ■ The ease with which the Americans flftfeatcd the Chinese in the doubles leaves little in the way of discussing thp match, witfi the exception of comments concerning Coen's brilliancy. A great crowd of his townspeople came to see him play; and cheered vociferously. A stroke analysis shows that in three sets he made 23 placements, twice as many as Tilden, and more than all the other three players together. He returned his service brilliantly, and volleyed and lobbed like a veteran. Some observers go so far as to say that with him comes the rise of anew gen- i eration of American tennis players;
