The Argentine Ambassador, Dr. Uritraru, was the guest of tho Argentine Club at dinner last night to' celebrate the 180 th anniversary of the declaration of independence of the Republic. Dr. Uriburu said that the Argentine had played, and was playing, a very important part in the economic affairs of Great Britain. • Colonel Parish stated that in ordinary times Britain was the Argentine's greatest customer. Last year Britain purchased from the Argentine products worth £76,000,000, and goods sold to her by Britain were worth £26,000,000. As an offset against that adverse balance, about £20,000,000 was remitted to Britain annually in respect of capital raised here for Argentine enterprises. Britain had £500,000,000 invosted in the Argentine, whilo a considerable revenue was also gained from shipping services and other sources.
