STRAND THEATRE.
I Douglas Fairbanks':; latest film, "The Gaui'lio," which is now screening at tho Strand Theatre, is a 'romantic story with ' a setting in tho beauty and majesty of i South America. Fairbanks has the role of the bandit chief, leader of Gauclio riders, who ] capture a city coveted by Iho villain of tho story. A wild mountain beauty, who is attracted by tho notoriety of the bandit chief,' joins the expedition on tho way to tho town. Another beautiful woman is brought into the story when the saintly girl of tho captured city makes her appearance. She has won fame through her gentleness, and she stirs tho love of tho rough, but gallant bandit chief. The mountain girl, jealous of the other, betrays the bandits and they aro dismissed, tho chief ! Imjliir captured soon afterwards. Thrilling ad- | ventures end in the city being captured, and the chieftain rides away with the girl of his choice. A large and well-varied supporting programme is also presented.
