The fifth series of senior Eugby games, J>layed on Saturday afternoon tinder excellent footballing '• conditions,: was ' followed with close interest, and in some instances the games provided many exciting moments. At Athletic Park , Oriental, succeeded in holding out against a strong challenge from Poneke in a game which aroused much enthusiasm, particularly in .the concluding stages. University found Marist a tough proposition at Newtown Park, and a ikeenly-contested game gave Marist their second win of the season. Athletic accounted for Petone on •the latter's ground, and Old Boys won "comfortably from Eastbourne.. Warwick turned out for Athletic on Saturday, and when he retired owing to an injury C. G. Porter filled the vacancy in the team. In the senior B grade Wellington maintained ' their lead, and Johnsonville added a win to keep in close touch with the leaders.
