SEADDLER STORY SCOTCHED.

In that remarkable account by Mr. Lowell Thomas of the story of Count Felix yon Luckner and his extraordinary cruise of the German marauder, the Seaddicr, entitled the "Sea Devil," more than one complimentary reference is made to the American builders of this vessel (states "Fairplay"). Now tho Seaddler was originally tho Pass of Balmaha, built by Robert Duncan and Company, the well-known Clyde builders, in 1888, for account of Glasgow owners, Messrs. Gibson and* Clark. In 1914, under the same name, her registry was transferred to a company in Boston, Mass. No explanation Is forthcoming as to how a vessel flying the American flag was captured by tho Germans prior to the United States entering the war. What is very astonishing is that a practical seaman like Count yon Luckner did. not reallso that he was commanding a Scotch-built vessel.
