TAR-SEALING SUBSIDY.
The tar-sealing of. highways radiating from the principal centres of population in the various districts may be expedited very considerably under the regulation which empowers the Main Highways Board to grant a preferential subsidy of as much as £3 to £1, or such smaller amount as it may think advisable, on the cjist of surface-treating such roads. The Miisteitoii County Council, reports '."The Post's'1 iUnsterton correspondent, is applying for a preferential subsidy of .CM to ,C.l on the cost of tai'-sealitiK a section of the MaHlcL'tpn-Xinui highway extending about two miles towards Tinui from the Bidei'ord road turn-pit".
