BYRD'S EXPEDITION
DUNEDIN AS A BASE (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) DUNEDIN, This Day. At a meeting of the Otago Harbour Board, the secretary reported that he had communicated with Flight-Com-mander Byrd offering the facilities of tho port as a fitting-out base for his Antarctic expedition before it proceeded to the Eoss Sea. Commander Byrd replied that he was aware that the Port of Otago had been associated with the expeditions of Captains Scott and Shackleton, and he would probably call here. Tho secretary added that Commander Byrd would be likely to come here with the whaler Lar^seu when she returned in November.
