THE QUEEN'S BIRTHDAY
To-day is the anniversary of the ! Queen's 'birthday, fluttering flags on public and other buildings marking the occasion. A Royal Salute was fired, at noon. Her Majesty is tlie daughter of- the Duke and Duchess of Teck, and a granddaughter of the Duke of Cambridge, and was born on 26th May, 1867. It was on 6th July, 1893, that she married King George, who was thoii'Duke of' York. The Governor-General, who is at Auckland, has sent the following mess-, .ago to the Queen: "His Majesty's Government and people in New Zealand join with me in submitting to Your Majesty respectful congratulations and good wishes on the occasion of Your Majesty's birthday."
