The lady of the house had returned from a tea party, and had found a letter on her salver. "Where did this come from?" she demanded. The maid told her that a, lady had left it, and described her. "Oh!" said her mistress. "I can't recognise her from what you say. Are you sure she knew me?" "Oh, yes, madam," was the reply. "She knew you all right. When I told her I d been here six months she said, "Good heavens."
