CAUGHT RED-HANDED
BURGLARY ADMITTED j The,story,of a. burglar who was caught --red-handed was told in the j'Magistrate's' Court yesterday afterI'n'oon, when Patrick Joseph Carr, a I.y |: bourer, aged 22; pleaded guilty to breaking and entering the Solf-Help Store.at Brooklyn, and stealing thirty-five tins of tobacco, valued at £2 16s sd. The evidence showed that, acting on information received, Sergeant Paine and Constables Larsen and Euddell went to tho store early in the morning of 19th )lay and found the accused on the premises. He said that lie had broken into th'o store to get some tobacco as ho was penniless and unable to buy it. • A, bacon bag containing the tobacco.was found near the back door, a panel of which had been broken. • The accused, who was represented by Mr. W;;E,'Leicester, was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence. Bail in the.sum of £75, with a similar surety, was renewed, and the accused was ordered to report daily to ; the police.
