POSITION OF VENIZELOS ANXIOUS TO AVOID CONFLICT Australian Press Association. ATHENS, 23rd May. M. Venizelos, in a statement, said that he felt that refusal to resume the leadership of the Liberal Party would mean its disappearance through dissensions, with possible disastrous consequences''to the country. Therefore, he took his decision, but he was quite ready to leave Greece for ever if thereby he could facilitate a settlement oi' tho conflict over the futuro regime. It is reported late to-night that M. Vonizelos will not himself take office, but1 will"recommend the formation 6f a Cabinet under M. Safoijlis, President of tho Chamber. , Nothing, however, has been settled. The police banned an anti-Venizelos demonstration.
