WINGATUI TRACK NOTES

"Heavy rain on Wednesday afternoon and night left the inside glass track greasy and against fast work; 'In consequence, training operations yesterday morning were not of an interesting nature. Antrim Boy, who /covered a lot more ground than Miss Winkie, was doing the better of the pair at the end of four furlongs, though 'bey finished together. Quickform, aud .Eyed Ova were companions over a solidly run mile. The former, who" has built up a iot since racing at Easter "time,-easily-had the best of it. The two-year-old , Leighton—Statuette filly, who has been named Artistic, was trotting about the inside of the course. She has developed into a good-looking mare under Ware's care. The Biplane two-year-old and Strongbird were sent over, half a mile at a strong -pace, the former moving attractively. ■ Kapuna, who looks strong and well, did long work at half to threc-qujirter . pace. He is . carrying a lot of condition at present. r Puff. :.Royal Saxon, and Overhaul went round together, sprinting- home over six furlongs in Iniin 23 3-ssee. Overhaul .was going best nt the finish and he is looking very well just now. Dubious worked by himself at half-pace. He bears the appearance of having done a iot of work. Pamplona moved nicely in a couple of rounds at half-pace. He is still very big, but appears to be quite sound again. Apple Dighton pulled hard over the. first part of a mile, which took'him 2min lOsec to complete. He was going much slower at the finish. Wingatui, who also worked alone, was moving well at the end of a circuit at from half to three-quarter pace. Coastguard and Armchair were compam ions over two rounds and sprinted home over the last six furlongs in Imjit 20sec. The former is coming to hand very nicely after his spell a few weeks, ago, and provided he docs not touch a hurdle in a race, must be given a chance in the Otfigo Hurdles. Hard Prince did a couple, of rounds well, but thi* horse is )not a genuine stayer, and will have to have everything in his favour next week to win. Cassells, looking very much in the rough, did long, slow work. He does not look as if he will be ready for some time yet. ' Real Glad, who looks /in better condition than she has done this season, was always anxious to'increase the pace in a couple of rounds. It is reported that Celerity If. will not be a.starter in the Uirthday Handicap on the first, day.
