AN INTERESTING LECTURE Despite the inclement weather there was a good attendance last night at the lantern lecture given by Mr. 11. E. Anderson in the Masonic Hall. The lecture consisted of an interesting and j enlightening description of the travels of the speaker in.various parts of the African Continent and in India and other Eastern countries, and was organised 'by tho Tar'arua Tramping Club to raise funds for p'rovidftig huts'and-j tracks,in, tho.Tararua Kur.gi.s. ..'■'•' i'jMany lantern .slides illustrating ■ the places visited were shown. The Victoria Falls were seen from many unusual angles, and there were isictures of some of the ancient towns on the coast of Africa. The journey, which started at Durban, went right up into the northern districts of Rhodesia, and across to the coast on the eastern side of -itlie continent. From- there the trip \yas continued up. the coast and through Kenya and Uganda to tho.mighty range of mountains on the border of Uganda and Belgian Congo. -Many slides of this little visited range were shown, as well as others depicting the native life. From Africa the traveller went, to India, whero the beauties of tho famous Taj Mahal were closely examined, and after that to Burma, where many more \yonderful and historical tombs were visited. Another lecture on the Dutch East Indies will be given in about three weeks.
